Wooden Venetian Blind Stack Guide
With wooden venetian blinds you need to consider the “stack”. The stack is the depth of the slats on the blind when it is pulled all the way up.
If your window has a fanlight at the top or your room is particularly dark and you want to pull the blind up to let more light in, rather than just control the light by controlling the angle of the venetian blind slats, then the following guide will give you an indication of how much room the blind will take.
The stack is reduced with 50mm slats because you need less slats to cover the drop when the blind is closed, so this may be the better option if you don’t have room at the top of the window.
The measurement stated includes the headrail and bottom rail, ie from the very top of the blind to the bottom.
What are the compacted stack sizes?
Something you may need to consider is what is known as the “stack”...
When you raise the blind the slats collect at the top of the window all bunched up. The smaller the slat size, the more slats you will need to cover the window, and so the bigger the stack when these are all pulled up. If you have fanlight windows these could be obstructed by the stack, so it may be better to go for 50mm over 25 or 35mm in this case.
| - Slat Size - | |||
| 25mm | 35mm | 50mm | |
| Drop | |||
| 50cm | 11.5cm stack | 11.5cm stack | 11cm stack |
| 100cm | 17cm stack | 17.5cm stack | 14cm stack |
| 150cm | 22cm stack | 22.5cm stack | 17.5cm stack |
| 200cm | 27cm stack | 27.5cm stack | 20cm stack |
| 240cm | 31cm stack | 31.5cm stack | 22cm stack |
