Plan And Measure

1 Prepare and plan

Wooden Venetian Blinds can be cut to size and thus made to measure so you will need to measure your exact window or window recess requirements. Planning ahead of delivery will help you order a blind which looks good, functions, is convenient to operate and easy to install.

2 Measure
Want a perfect fit blind?

Before you start to measure for a window blind...

You should use a steel tape measure as they are much more reliable than cloth / plastic tapes.

Look for any obstructions that could get in the way of the blind - i.e. window handles, telephone boxes, cables etc

Decide if you want the blind to fit inside or outside of the window recess  - What is a recess?

Measure the width and drop and supply us these measurements in mm. If you are using inches then you can use the converter on the order page.

Bear in mind that very few windows are absolutely level. It is common for the measurements to vary from top to bottom buy a small amount, but this small amount can make a big difference to how the blind fits.

How Wooden Venetian Blinds are supplied

Your blinds will normally be delivered by a courier to your chosen delivery address.

Each blind should come well packaged in its own box. On the outside of the box you will see a docket from the warehouse with the details of your blind.

Once open, you will normally find:

  • a box of brackets
  • an extra support (use on blinds over 120cm wide) valance clips
  • plastic end caps should you wish to use them.

Then there will be the actual blind, a matching valance. If you order quality blinds then you will be supplied at least 2 spare slats in case you damage one or experience some slight warping.

You will find fitting instructions but you may also watch our fitting videos if you prefer to watch.

If you are not sure how to fit your wooden blinds after reading the instructions and watching the fitting videos.

3 Fitting your blind

In addition to what arrives in the box you will need –

  • Screws
  • A drill
  • Rawl plugs (if you are fitting into masonary)
  • A cross head screw driver
  • Your choice of tea or coffee (optional!)

It is a good idea to use a dust sheet when drilling to avoid mess and always clear the window of ornaments before you start to give yourself plenty of room.

When fitting your blinds please make sure you watch out for your health and safety.
